Quotes needed, from or about books

For a project I’m considering, I’m looking for quotes about books, and memorable quotes from books. Shorter is better, but in any case, with attributions. Also, because of the evergreen nature of the project, no political quotes from the last 50 years, please.

Examples, to show you what I’m looking for:

“Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.” —Groucho Marx

“It’s silly to spend six months writing a novel when you can buy one for two dollars and ninety five cents.” —Gracie Allen

“Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.” —Salvor Hardin, Foundation (by Isaac Asimov)

“As you wish.” —Wesley, The Princess Bride (William Goldman)

What are your favorites? Thanks.
